This solution is used to pre-configure Stonebranch Universal Agents to work with Kubernetes. You may configure any number of agents. Configured agents are used for secure file transfers between any solutions running on Openshift and any platforms or applications that are not. This includes moving data between the mainframe and the cloud in a hybrid IT environment. Requires the Universal Automation Center platform, which is purchased separately from Stonebranch.

Hybrid File Transfer for Openshift

Automate the transfer of data back and forth between your mainframe, on-prem servers, cloud storage, virtual servers, and any application running on OpenShift.

High Security for Internal and External File Transfers

Battle-tested encryption ensures files are secure across both internal transfers and transfers with external third-party applications and platforms.

Real-Time File Transfers with Event-Based Triggers

With event-driven automation technology, you will achieve real-time automation across your entire hybrid IT environment. Event-based triggers include file monitor, email monitors, application monitors, and many more. Of course, you may also use time-based triggers.

Real-Time Monitoring and Auditing

Real-time monitoring and auditing of the entire file transfer process and centralized logging of all activities make the movement of data easy to track and virtually audit-proof.

DevOps Enabled for Lifecycle Management

You are able to use the Stonebranch bundle and promote features to automatically move tested configurations from DEV -> TEST -> PROD – supporting a CI/CD DevOps approach.

Automate and Schedule Workloads

Use a visual drag-and-drop workflow editor to automate and schedule jobs/workloads across any application and platform. Easily combine the power of the Stonebranch Universal Controller (UC) with Universal Agents and Redhat Openshift PODs. The benefits of using UC to schedule jobs/workloads for an application deployed on OpenShift include highly reduced resources consumption, scalability and performance, fast deployment, and testing.

    "Workload automation made easier."

    What do you like best?

    1. We can directly create a job in SAP. There’s no need to involve basis team for SAP job creation. Even Spool users could be added from SB end. 2. There are multiple indirect features available for SAP systems. Like checking the status of a job in SAP, Testing connectivity, etc. 3. User management is quite easy here. There’s a range of roles and permissions to restrict users as per the requirement using GUI itself. 4. I like the comprehensive nature of reports. We can extract a lot of data using the reports. 5. Audits available on GUI. No need to login to the server to extract the logs. We can directly use filters in Audits to get the desired output. 6. Upgrade of Controller/Agent takes very less time and is quite easy. 7. Alerts are available to be configured for a wide variety of job status, without impacting the performance of the tool. 8. System operations make our task much easier for automating extremely complex requirements.

    What do you dislike?

    1. Some features don’t work with ease like Task Monitors. Defining dependencies on tasks not present in the same workflow is not quite simple and also susceptible to errors. 2. No table available in Reports to get the data of predecessor/successor jobs. 3. There’s no compare option within versions. Many tools like control M and TWS have this option of ‘Compare’ with the existing version and any older version which would simply point out the differences in the versions. Here we need check and find out on our own which is time consuming.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It's not just about scheduling jobs, it's much more than that. It's a total workload automation tool. It has reduced my dependency on other teams, like SAP basis team for job creation or status check. It has reduced significant amount of time in troubleshooting by providing 'Status History' and 'Audits' on the GUI. Segregating access using business services allows me to use a federated model wherein different teams could take care of their workloads.

    "Extremamente satisfeito com o produto"

    What do you like best?

    What do you dislike?

Simplesmente sensacional.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Atualmente, a melhore ferramenta de automação que eu conheço. Interface web totalmente interativa, de fácil intendimento. Orientação a objeto que facilita muito a composição dos Workflows.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Problemas de cliente com schedulagem de Jobs de SAP, que eram feitos manualmente, ou através do schedule do próprio SAP que é muito eficiente.

"How to get old technology in to the future..."

    What do you like best?

All tools can be installed in all enviroments. If it's z/OS, AIX, linux, windows,... there is a solution for every platform. Without these tools from Stonebranch we would not be able to connect all these diferent worlds. In comparision with other workload automation companies, Stonebranch is a payable good alternative. they listen to our requirements and are flexible and solution oriented. I hope we can help to improve the software and learn from each other during our migration project of our workload automation enviroment. I like the familiar and uncomplicated contact with the team. Support acts quickly and knows his stuff.

    What do you dislike?

Universal Controller; The GUI of the universal controller is really outdated. The Design should be modern. On the first look it seems like an outdated product - which technicaly it is not. The overall arrangement of all options could be more intuitive and more user-friendly. Some things like a connection to git hub and for example regional holidays for calanders should be build in the software and autmaticly be updated. Overall it should be more implemented out of the box (eg. templates). The Documentation of the installation of an OMS-Server is too little. There is no best-practice documentation.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

With the Tool UDM we have been able to manage all our Filetranfer from and between our mainframe and the distributed world. Also we use this tool and UCMD to automate a lot of distributed servers scheduled via our central scheduling software IWS. With UDM-Gateway we give our costumers the posibility exchange files via HTTPS and SFTP. At the moment we are implementing the Workload Automation Enviroment. Our Goal is to migrate another distributed Scheduler Software from our subsidiary and later on replace our current scheduling software IWS.

    "Workload automation made simple"

    What do you like best?

I love the way you can create workflows using a GUI. It makes them very easy to understand for our non-technical end users. The ability to see a visual representation of a running workflow makes it easy for my team to respond when we are asked about downstream processes that might be affected by an issue.

    What do you dislike?

Troubleshooting issues is difficult due to the many logs/locations. An event/logging console would make this much easier.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have automated thousands of manual task and processes, and greatly reduced errors. We have converted hundreds of shell scripts into UAC tasks, which has made them easy to restart and overcome issues.

    "Great tool for scheduling/workflow automation!"

    What do you like best?

It's easy to see when jobs are complete.

    What do you dislike?

No way to view version diffs between envs

Recommendations to others considering the product:

It's a very powerful tool that makes administration easy to use and developers can learn how to quickly implement jobs on it. It's versatile and the triggers can handle all kinds of complex scenarios. Stonebranch support responds almost instantly to questions and is amazing to work with.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have 30+ groups using Stonebranch to solve so many different kinds of issues. It runs database jobs, file transfers to and from different types of servers, SFTP transfers to various vendors, FTP file monitors, java jar programs, running Windows tasks and so much more. Every group that starts using Stonebranch really enjoys it, and they love that they can be emailed or paged when jobs fail, as well as having an easy interface to see job statuses. From an administration standpoint I can easily see when agents are having trouble, as well as create custom reports to see any information that I want or need about the jobs running. I administer around 10,000 jobs and Stonebranch makes it easy to do.
