Certified enterprise ready
Monitoring and analytics platform for large-scale applications that aggregates data across your entire stack with 400+ integrations for troubleshooting, alerting and graphing.
Datadog is a SaaS-based monitoring and analytics platform for large-scale applications and infrastructure. Datadog combines real-time logs, metrics from servers, containers, databases, and applications with end-to-end tracing. Datadog delivers actionable alerts and powerful visualizations to provide full-stack observability. Datadog includes over 400 vendor-supported integrations and APM libraries for several languages.
Monitor across systems, apps, and services
With turn-key integrations, Datadog seamlessly aggregates metrics and events across the full devops stack - SaaS and Cloud providers, Automation tools, Monitoring and instrumentation, Source control and bug tracking, and Databases and common server components.
Full visibility into modern applications
You can monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize application performance. You can also trace requests from end to end across distributed systems. You can track app performance with auto-generated service overviews. Datadog provides graphs and alerts on error rates or latency percentiles (p95, p99, etc.). You can instrument your code using open source tracing libraries.
Analyze and explore log data in context
Quickly search, filter, and analyze your logs for troubleshooting and open-ended exploration of your data. Automatically collect logs from all your services, applications, and platforms. Navigate seamlessly between logs, metrics, and request traces. See log data in context with automated tagging and correlation. You can visualize and alert on log data.
Proactively monitor your user experience
You get end-to-end user experience visibility in a single platform. Monitor critical user journeys captured with an easy-to-use web recorder. Save engineering resources with AI-powered, self-maintaining tests. Detect and alert on performance issues for users in various locations. Manage your SLAs and SLOs.
Visualize traffic flow in cloud-native environments
You can understand performance using meaningful, human-readable tags. You will use tags to filter traffic by source and destination. Group by anything — from datacenters to teams to individual containers. Report key metrics such as traffic volume and TCP retransmits.
Build real-time interactive dashboards
More than summary dashboards, Datadog offers all high-resolution metrics and events for manipulation and graphing. You can see graphs across sources in real-time. You can also slice data by host, device, or any other tag. You can compute rates, ratios, averages or integrals. Easily customize views, interactively or in code.
Get alerted on critical issues
Datadog notifies you of performance problems, whether they affect a single host or a massive cluster. You can receive alerts on any metric, for a single host or for an entire cluster. Get notifications via e-mail, PagerDuty, Slack, and other channels. You can also build complex alerting logic using multiple trigger conditions. You can mute all alerts with one click during upgrades and maintenance.
Instrument your apps, write new integrations
Datadog includes full API access to bring observability to all your apps and infrastructure. You can capture events and metrics from your own applications using our client libraries. You can tag servers or query Datadog in command-line. Generate and upload JSON-formatted dashboards. Use Datadog Restful HTTP API for full data access.

What do you like best?
It is so hard to narrow down which features I love the best. This is because no matter what you need from logs to engineering, to security, to infrastructure, there is not 1 team in an organization that can benefit from this product. Datadog is able to import your entire company into metrics, monitors, and triggers to mitigate any issues and to respond as soon as possible to issues that arise. Their host map feature is a dream come true. You can see which EC2 instances in AWS are communicating with each other and how much traffic and what traffic is communicating through each instance.
What do you dislike?
The feature I disliked at first was that there was no role-based access control which was a nightmare for security. But they just released a beta feature to resolve this! I think Datadog has come a long way over the years. One huge problem I have come into is as their product changes their documentation is out of date at times and does not have current configurations for things which lead you having to reach out to support for assistance with resolving issues or setting up key integrations through your organization. I understand there are growing pains with any application but I wish there was an easy way to report outdated documents for them to update.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you want ease of access when it comes to a monitoring application. Datadog is the tool you want.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
With Datadog, because we can ingest all-out server logs, application logs, docker logs, and metrics we are able to only have to go to one UI for a nonstop shop of information to troubleshoot and resolve issues as they arise.

What do you like best?
With datadog you can quickly get up and running. May be the easiest among all out there. Since it enables you to put everything into one dashboard irrespective of their zone,VPC or environment type we can have one bookmarked place to look at for the first report. Once you figure out how to set up datadog agents then it's a one point of solution. Integrating it to IMs like slack is really easy and thresholds can be set individually to prioritize alerts.
What do you dislike?
Database monitoring would have a delay if agent is set up. If you have a complex structure of DB infrastructure. this is going to be pain point. The UI could have been a little better, but not a blocker issue
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you have a large set of resources spread across various zones and you don't have too many people monitoring it's health, datadog is the way to go. It can be hooked to IMs which takes out most of the know alerts without even getting into Datadog
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
Infrastructure and resource monitoring. Healthcheck, Batch jobs monitoring and follow up. IM notifications for failures. With the help of datadog we were able to provide a one stop solution for support and maintenance team for resource availability and health check which are spread across various zones and VPC. We even merged various products to one single dashboard and hooked the threshold alerts to IMs like slack to automate alerting and eventually reducing the reaction time significantly.

What do you like best?
Datadog is building out a platform that covers not only all logging and monitoring needs, but also integrates them together nicely. The interface has a consistent feel, and the support staff is generally well-above averagee.
What do you dislike?
It is a bit on thee pricey side in some areas -- there are a lot of competitive open-source solutions but I'm thankfully at a business that allows us to get tools like this.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
We are leveraging Datadog for general metrics, APM, and as of recently... logs. The ability to view associations between these pillars is a great benefit that we didn't have when using separate tools.

Review source: Invitation from G2Review source: Invitation from G2Not ratedOct 23, 2019"Datadog do not hesitate to use it"
What do you like best?
It does a good job in managing records with full search, has a simple interface, offers a wide variety of integrations with third-party services and systems, easy to configure and use
What do you dislike?
There is no reduction in delays in the response time of the monitoring agent, additional reporting capabilities are missing, too, there is no custom query language that can be useful
Recommendations to others considering the product:
We used Datadog for Hystrix metric shipments of various services there and configured several monitors and alerts that alert you to any underlying problem before a major failure. It's an excellent choice for records management, APM and system. I recommend
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
DataDog is currently being used by Wayfair's Monitoring, Network Operations and Critical Incidents teams to provide a variety of data to provision, manage and maintain existing infrastructure for sites and applications, s a critical input on how these teams identify in the company

Verified Current UserReview source: Invitation from G2Verified Current UserReview source: Invitation from G2Not ratedJul 10, 2019"Best Metrics"
What do you like best?
I like how easy it is to configure everything on the DataDog. If I want to add some metrics and visualize it, I can easily do that in a matter of few hours. Really good documentation and well written. I also enjoy the support team that is always ready to help out with any problems.
What do you dislike?
I don't really like some of its functionality with alarms and notifications. I think it could be better improved. But overall, I really enjoy it more than any other tools that I have used in the past. Easy configuration and integration.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I think it's heading to the right direction but Datadog needs to work on its documentation.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
I am solving different problems with Datadog: - visualization of data; - metrics monitoring; There are certain benefits I have realized so far: - best visualization that can be achieved with more work hours with ELK stack, but Datadog has more functionality that one can tune ELK on to have; - easy integration with other tools and notifications to Jira, email, Slack, etc.
