Set up product listing content

The listing page should help a customer understand your product’s functionality and assist them in making purchasing decisions. Provide content that is easily consumable in a digital context and relates to your product’s target audience.

Prerequisites

Procedure

  1. Navigate to the products page by clicking on the Edit option in the Create your product page.
  2. Verify the information in the company section to ensure that they are accurate.
  3. Enter a Company Display Name. This is an optional field.
  4. Enter a Company Website URL.
  5. Provide a Company Logo.

Result

You have set up the company information section.

NameDescription
Company NameThis is pre-populated and is your legal company name. If it is incorrect, reach out to the onboarding lead.
Company Display NameUse this field when your company has a different name that is used in the market which is different from the legal name.
Company Website URLProvide a preferred URL for the company
Company LogoProvide a logo representing the company with minimal white spaces. Acceptable file types are .png, .gif, and .jpg

Set up search and navigation

Procedure

  1. Enter the Meta Keywords.
  2. Select up to three Categories.
  3. Select a Primary Category.

Meta KeywordsSpace-separated keywords to help search for the product within Red Hat Marketplace catalog. Use hyphens for multi-word keywords similar to in-memory computing.
CategoriesPre-defined product types to classify your product and you can select up to three categories. At least one category is required.
Primary CategoryThis field will help place your product on the main landing page.

Procedure

  1. Enter the Product Title.
  2. Enter the Software Version. It is an optional field.
  3. Provide a Product Short Description.
  4. Provide a Product Description.
  5. Provide a Product Logo.

Product TitleProduct name that shows at the top of the page. Avoid using internal product code names.
Software VersionProvide the current version of the product and this can be updated as the product version changes.
Product Short DescriptionShort one- or two-line description of the product that includes it’s key value proposition and benefits of the product. Avoid using the product name in the short description as it’s directly displayed below the product name.
Product DescriptionDetailed description of your product offering. It will ignore paragraph breaks, tabs, and bullets. This should be different from the short description.
Product LogoUse your product-specific logo. If you do not have a product-specific logo, please use the company logo.

Set up features

The features to be added here should include the distinctive attributes that your product offers. For the listing to be approved, provide no less than three specific features. You can add, delete, or reorder features.

  2. Provide a Feature Description for the feature. This is an optional field.

Set up media

You can use this section to educate and market your product to prospective buyers by using videos and images. The media can be a demonstration video of the product or customer case study videos or architectural images. You can provide up to 20 media resources.

Procedure

  1. Enter the Title of the media.
  2. Select the Media Asset type.
  3. Upload the Media Image or Media Video URL.
  4. Upload a Media Thumbnail for the media uploaded.

Media AssetThe media asset is used to identify whether the particular media is a video or image resource.
Media Video URLIt is used to provide a valid URL to the video. The video should show how the product meets the customer’s needs and solves their pain points. Link to videos on YouTube, Vimeo, and DailyMotion are permitted.
Media ImageThe media image should show your product in use. The supported file types are .png, .gif, .jpg.
Media ThumbnailIt is a required field for every media resource, which will appear as the preview for the media asset.

Every product entry requires links to your official license agreement and privacy policy. These are typically the standard privacy and legal information landing pages included on your official site. They are located on the left navigation pane of the product listing.

Procedure

  1. Enter the complete URL of the company’s licensing agreement in the License Agreement field.
  2. Enter the complete URL of where your company’s privacy policy in the Privacy Policy field.

Result

The legal agreement and privacy policy fields are complete.

Set up product URLs

Product URLs are used to guide the customers to implement your Marketplace product. These guides need to be specific to the implementation of the product from Red Hat Marketplace catalog and it needs to be kept current with newer releases of the products.

Procedure

  1. Enter the external URL to the product quickstart guide in the Quickstart field.
  2. Enter the external URL to product configuration documentation Configuration field.

Result

The product URLs are complete.

TroubleshootingProvide a link to documentation where the customer can find information to resolve common challenges they may run into while working with your product. Although this field is not required, it is highly recommended to include this information.
FAQsIf you already have a designated area on your website that addresses Frequently Asked Questions, this is the place to add the URL. Although this field is not required, it is highly recommended. If you want to enter FAQs directly into your product page, you can use the FAQ section in the portal.
ReadmeThis is an optional field to enter the product’s readme information.

Set up readme

If you do not have an external URL for product documentation, then include any relevant documentation needed to install and configure your Red Hat Marketplace product in the markdown fields for Product readme, and Operator - pre-requisites, install, post-install/next steps.

This information will display as operator install instructions after the user has purchased or signed up for a free trial. Embedded images or videos are not allowed at this time in these markdown fields.


Set up FAQs

This section is optional and will be displayed when more than three FAQs are created. This will be displayed under the help tab of the product page.

QuestionThis field is used to provide a question that is frequently asked by the customer directly on the product page. This is an optional field.
AnswerThe answer field lets you answer the question you provided in the question field.
Answer LinkYou can provide an external URL to answer the question in detail.

Set up resources

This section is used to provide product information through viewable and downloadable assets such as product brochures, product promotions, infographics, case studies, and webinars. At least two resources are needed for the Resources tab to appear on the product page.

Resource TypeThe resource type can be documentation, community resources, or support information.
Resource NameThis field is used to display the title of the resource on the product page.
Resource DescriptionThis field can be used to provide a short description of the resource.
Resource URLYou can provide an external URL to download or view the resource.
